The back field
A year ago this week since Jimmy died and Ruth went into the care home. It is beginning to sink in that they won't ever be back in their house. I'm amazed at how often I glance at their windows or garden to see if they are there. It is taking quite a while after them being at the top of the garden for the last fourteen years.
This spring we started working on the field, which was Jimmy's mother's back garden. It's on a slope and is heavy clay and poorly drained. Hopefully, digging a pond, making a bog garden and planting lots of willow cuttings will help things!
We've had the hens' house and run in there for years but now that it's ours we have fenced it and the hens are free range. They are very happy - and so are we!
