Tenterden Town Signalbox
A different turn on the railway today. An evening turn at Tenterden for the Fish and Chip Special.
The light engine came up at 17.55, departed with the train at 18.30 and was out of section at 18.47. There followed a quiet time until I was offered the return train at 20.26.
Plenty of time in the solitude of Tenterden box to enjoy a lovely evening, catch up with blips and eat my salad. A Belgian couple turned up outside the box so I invited them in and showed them around the station and all our carriages including the Wealden Pullman which impressed them no end.
It turns out I could have ordered the fish and chips had I done so early enough! I’m on again later in the month so must get an order in on time.
The train was hauled by the Class 33 Dennis G Robinson. It was going to be today’s blip as it was waiting to depart with the Tenterden signalbox in the background. However, at the last a view of the signalbox in the cosy warm light of late evening stole the show.
Work on the windows and weatherboarding nearly complete. Very pleased with it all.
