(Wiggly) Flight line

Living, and I use my words advisedly, 'fairly' close to Heathrow (at least under the flight paths) I find myself quite often looking at the vapour trails leading to and from.

Sometimes there are hundreds making spectacular time-lapse style lines in the sky and sometimes, usually when the early/late sun catches them they glow luminescently against the dark blue sky - a single white line carving its way through the air.

This morning was just that effect but noticed beneath the straight line of a jet laying a new line was a strangle wiggly cloud instantly sparking the thoughts 1. How do you get a plane to make that trail? And 2. What would it have been like to fly it? Guess I'll never know.
