Visit to Gilleleje
The main picture shows a part of the harbour, with fishing boat “Vilhelm”, a museum object but still ready to sail, on the left.
The museum site offers further information on the vessel here. Translation: Vilhelm is referred to as an Isefjord boat, as it was built in Lynæs, but it has almost always fished in the Kattegat and was particularly suitable for fishing, as it was carried out from around 1900 until 1950. It was purchased for Gilleleje in 1905 and remained here used for both fishing and small cargo sailing, among other things with potatoes to Nyhavn. The fishing cutter Vilhelm is rigged up as it looked when newly built in 1888. Today it is maintained by Vilhelms Skibslaug, which also sails with the cutter. Vilhelm is located in the old harbor (most west), right at the outlet of the Søborg Canal.
