The Fly, the Wasp and the Ladybird

I've been wondering why there were so many wasps flying rapidly into the Cononeaster by the gate in the front garden so earlier this evening I obtained photographic evidence - they're feeding on the sap exuding from splits in the bark of some of the smaller shoots. They weren't the only ones - there were numerous flies, along with an unexpected ladybird.
