Van Gogh Re-Imagined, London

A strange, slightly trying day today. I was supposed to be full on for two hours when I got into work with gallery photography. Unfortunately, due to scheduling I wasn't allowed to get on with it during the time window. We've got something like twelve different galleries to shoot and the photography window keeps getting smaller. Even within the two hours each morning it's not really plain sailing due to technicians, private views, cataloguers and security guards. Often they don't quite understand how wide the shot you're trying to capture is. So my refrain is often "sorry, could you move over there" followed by "ummm, sorry but could you move a bit further away, no sorry, keep going, thank you". This is repeated ad infinitum. When we do get to do some photography we have to keep moving from gallery to gallery to try and capture shots on our list. It's a bit like doing a thousand piece jigsaw, a Rubik's cube and juggling balls at the same time!
Today's shot is a crop of something I see over and over when I leave the horrible little studio I work in when not doing the gallery shots. The harsh light, endless admin and time constraints do play about with my brain and stress loading so that's why it resonated with me when I saw it.
Next week is going to be interesting with more gallery stuff to capture and also moving back to my "old" studio to do deadline photography as well. Luckily, the Big Boss will be on holiday which does help make everything not nearly so difficult. Now it's time for wine and some relaxation.

Please listen to this rather brilliant bit of musical genius - witty, sad, beautiful and wonderfully heartfelt ( warning there is a wee bit of swearing!):
