Capturing my Journey

Glacier

We awoke early raring to go. Packed up the roof top tent and headed for Jasper. When crossing into Alberta we changed time zones to mountain time losing an hour. In Jasper we enjoyed breakfast and a peruse of the stores. We decided to buy a jet boil for our trip so we can get the morning cups of tea and coffee going nice and easy and quick! In fact we ended up having it and tea accessible easily at all times for quick brews.

We then headed onto the icefields parkway road. It was a little hazy from the wildfire smoke but we could still see things. We stopped to stretch ours and the dogs legs at a waterfall. The Sunwapta falls. It was busy with people but the falls were amazing force coming through a small gap loud too! We then continued on our aim was to reach Banff. We arrived late afternoon and it was very very hot in town so we couldn't leave the dogs and too busy to take them so we found a shady spot under some trees to get them out for water and their dinner and husband collected a takeaway dinner for us some yummy Mexican food. This trip we didn't book any camping spots our goal yo wing it and find our own places to camp. You can't wildcamp in national parks so we decided after dinner to push on south to get out of the parks and back into BC where we found a spot on a forest service road. A long day driving with amazing views. There are so many pictures just from this day!!

"May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds."~Edward Abbey
