And we made it.
Oh what a day. We had stayed in a fantastic hotel near Marco Polo airport in Venice. We had though it would be a slow day - go get a train, get on the boat in Ravenna etc but it turns out the trains on one of the legs had mandatory seating - i.e. you needed to book and well - there was a LOT of people heading to Ravenna from the airport so it was a bit tight. We ended up on an early train to stand a chance to get there. First leg was from Venice Mestre train station to Ferrara (the nice seats) and then we had to get another train to Ravenna - oh my this one was chocka block and the cases along the floor etc- total chaos. It was fine and we finally got to the ship but they still didn't have a room confirmed for us so had a bit of a wait and stuff to organise before getting on.
Finally got on but turns out we were assigned the wrong room and one not in the class we booked (this was sorted the next day)
The ship was the Celebrity Constellation and once on board we explored and worked out what was there. The food on the entire trip was amazing and we made sure that we made full use of the gym to stop our waistlines expanding *too* much.
I am still gutted and sad we didn't get the holiday that was planned but relieved we got something. I am at this point, also still worried about my sister as while they did rebook a week later, we were all looking forward to this trip together so it was sucky all round.
