Marina
The UK continues to plunge into deeper ridiculousness. Not only is the government’s new weaponisation of the climate crisis dangerous, it’s also hypocritical, as in the very recent past the UK has promoted itself as a world leader in the fight.
I am as much of a fan of safeguarding my space and privacy as anyone. Yet the media coverage of the Greenpeace protest at one of Rishi Sunak’s vacant properties is totally ridiculous. How can we fill the airwaves with manufactured outrage about a relatively minor event to distract the public from the issues that we continue to fail on and which affect them more? As always, Novara Media nails it.
Excitingly, Robin and Kate are in Dar es Salaam this weekend for Robin’s birthday. Kate and I were making arrangements and I typed ‘at the moment’, which autocorrected to ‘at the marina’, as it does every time. Do people habitually go to marinas? I am going to state confidently that usage of ‘at the moment’ vastly exceeds usage of ‘at the marina’. Maybe those who move in other circles would care to correct me. Is the marina industry sponsoring Apple? Is it part of a marketing campaign to get us to buy yachts?
Once my cynicism about the gradual creep of corporate control had subsided, we met up for beers on the Masaki Peninsula, which ended on a rooftop and a likely hangover brewing for Sunday.
