We borrowed out on Forth Explorer for the day again.

CyclopsJnr had a few goes at driving, and did very well following his course a few weeks ago.  MrsCyclops had a go too (pictured)!

Early on we saw four seals that had hauled out to bask on one of the channel markers, which was pretty cool (see extra).

Our first destination was Inchkeith, an uninhabited island with a lighthouse and abandoned WWII fortifications.  We landed and had a good explore.  It was sad to see quite a few dead birds around - presumably victims of bird flu.  We went right up to the lighthouse at the top, and looked around some of the military buildings.  They are rather crumbling so a good deal of caution is needed.

We went into the little harbour at Dysart for lunch.  The friendly yacht club there have a visitors pontoon, and the Harbourmasters Cafe did delicious soup, sandwiches and cakes.

After lunch we headed up the Forth a bit to see Blackness Castle and the Kelpies from the water, before returning to Port Edgar.

A great day out.

There was one heavy shower when we were on Inchkeith (we found some safe shelter in the porch of a crumbling house by the lighthouse) and another when we were having lunch.  We saw a few more heavy showers around but they didn't get us - we were very lucky!
