Puppets and acrobats
Had a very lazy start to the day, lying in and reading the papers and looking for reviews of shows etc. We had another go at cleaning off the front of my cupboards and oven after the leak…think this time it’s finally worked…what a pain it’s been!
We booked something for late today then headed down to the Mound for a coffee and then to see a play adapted from a Coetzee story about an unfortunate young man and his hard life and journey with his mother. It was by the handspring theatre company who did Warhorse and as you’d expect the puppetry was magical. Quite a long performance but so skilled. Unfortunately they didn’t bring any of the puppets out for their curtain call, so I’ve put the poster here to show the main one.
It had obviously poured whilst we were in the show and was cool and drizzly when we came out so rather than going into town we stopped for a very delicious lunch of seafood stew at The Outsider then came home to get changed into something a bit warmer and later I whipped up some scones which were delicious with jam and cream.
Out again to see a show we’d seen recommended called N.Ormes. It was two people virtually in the dark climbing on and over each other and balancing on each others arms and heads. Interesting and clever for about 15 minutes but it was so dark and with such dreamy music that I’m sure I dozed off a couple of times! There were some of their friends and supporters in the audience so lots of wild clapping but we were underwhelmed.
Home and slumped on the sofas…despite doing very little today we were both lacking in energy so had an early night.
