A Willow for my Grandfather

My Grandfather was a wonderfully kind and wise man, who always treated me as though I really mattered. So of course I thought the world of him! There was one thing that he did that was very special, and unusual; every year he would travel to the South Island of New Zealand, to paint and to draw. I still have some of his work, which is much treasured.

I made an image of willow trunks today for him, and made it look like one of his pencil line drawings. It's actually very effective technically (should I really say that?) but the composition just doesn't work in B&W. So I've ditched it. This is another willow image, which has had the same B&W processing with Silver Efex Pro 2, but it's not a multiple, like the first one. To my eye the composition has worked, but it doesn't have the uniqueness of the other. Too bad. This is it. A Willow, for my darling Grandad.
