Bird song
The theme for MonoMonday is 'sound'. One of my very favourite sounds is bird song. We have such variety of bird songs and sounds to enjoy here because it's such a quiet location, which also allows us to enjoy the 'sound of silence'. I remember an Indigenous elder telling me that even in an extremely busy city full of noise, a person can hear a bird song if she listens very carefully.
I didn't have a chance to take a photo of a real bird, so I put this little metal bird in front of our African basil plant. The bees love this plant, so we can also enjoy the sound of them buzzing. Little birds love our garden and often spend time between the plants, enjoying hunting for bugs in the shade.
It's so hot, in the low 30s, so we needed shade today too. G got the portable air conditioner going, thank goodness. It's hotter in other parts of the province that are under extreme heat warnings. It's supposed to cool down later in the week. Fingers crossed!
