New Pōneke (Wellington Harbour) Memorial

Pōneke is celebrating the unveiling of a memorial mural honouring the life and contributions of esteemed Wellingtonian Whaea (Auntie) June [Te Raumange] Jackson MNZM.Only unveiled yesterday and I saw it for the very first time. As the paper says it has significance as New Zealand and Australia co-host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™. June Jackson, a “beacon of empowerment and inspiration” for women, aligns perfectly with the spirit of this monumental sporting event. Her legacy is a reminder of the strides women have made in various fields, including sports, and the impact they continue to have on society. Well nice to celebrate these things in such an important moment for world soccer.
