City sign

For many decades, the signs and posters that decorated the streets, buildings, and private interiors of Berkeley were designed by the artist David Lance Goines, using the special typeface that was recognizably his. Here is a sample, in a park named after the indigenous Americans who inhabited this region before the invading Spaniards and Britons took their land. Goines died this past February, but his work survives him and continues to give me pleasure whenever I see it.
