On the seafront
We had a lecture programme meeting at the Museum today. I am relieved to have confirmed all my speakers for Autumn/ Winter. Subjects are as follows - Churchill’s bodyguard by his son, a successful crime writer, a comedy poetry show, a lecture and piano recital concerning a piece inspired by Torquay in 1857, Victorian plant hunters and local connections, music hall artistes, and Glenn Miller with saxophone accompaniment. Other members are finding science, local and natural history speakers, enabling us to offer over 40 talks for a subscription of £60 or pay £5 a lecture.
I enjoyed the walk back along the seafront and sat outside at the Visto Lounge with a drink in the sunshine. The sandman is back at Abbey Sands with his intricate designs - see extra.
I am suffering from an ear worm - Crying in the Rain- after watching an interesting documentary about the Everly Brothers last night. Don wasn’t very happy that the Beatles and other Artists more or less banished them to old fashioned obscurity overnight. Fascinating old film and interviews.
