Feeder

I was up and out earlier than usual for another blood test. Last week the surgery called and asked me to have an additional test I didn’t delve into why and just booked it. I assumed if there was any real cause for alarm they would tell me or would do a follow-up after this one. I was first into the surgery - I had to wait for the doors to be unlocked - but it made it easy and fast to get the blood test done and be back home before breakfast.  The nurse who took the sample and I had a bit of a laugh about the early hour and she committed that it was always better to get somebody cheerful in the first slot than somebody who wasn’t as it set the day up well. That’s a good reminder to smile, even first thing in the morning.

Having been up early, I used the time after breakfast to complete the cleaning and perpetration for Jez and family visiting. It meant I wasn’t trying to do little bits around my meetings before they arrived.  It wouldn’t have been a problem as there were only a couple of meetings, most notably about the programmatic clash, and not a lot that was urgent today but, it was nice not to have to worry about it.

I did find the bird feeder that they had bought and thought it would be a good idea to put it out.  We got it as a Christmas present but, because it’s so nice, I was worried about having it out in the colder winter months so put it aside for the spring It became one of those small jobs that I never got to. It’s reminded in a box in my office. As I was about to start work this morning I saw the box and thought it would be nice to have it hanging outside when they arrived. I am glad I did as I think it looks great.

I managed to get in a quick shop at lunchtime to get the a few things in for their arrival. The doorbell went at 3pm and everybody troped in: lots of hellos and stories of the train journey south. After some  drinks, I went back to work and they headed out for a trip into Wimbledon and up to look at the tennis club. By the time they were back, I’d finished for the day. Once PY was home we cooked pizza - I think three ended up being too many - with salads, garlic bread and various bits to go with it. A lovely way to start their visit.
