Morning mists roll back…

in the Monadhliath, showing the Barracks in all their glory, albeit ruined! This was a strategic crossing of the Spey and the first recorded castle was built here in the thirteenth century by the Comyn’s, sworn enemies of the Bruce. This was when it came into the hands of the Wolf of Badenoch, illegitimate son on Robert II. The present building was built after 1715 and the defeat of the Old Pretender. It played a major role in the life of the Young Pretender, the Bonnie Prince after Culloden.
