Knud Rasmussen’s Memorial
…at Hundested, Nord Sjælland, Danmark. The famous Arctic explorer grew up in Grønland and became a Danish national hero, mostly because of his pleading for Greenland to stay completely Danish territory in the International Court at Den Haag. His house near Spodsbjerg Lighthouse (see extra) is overlooking the Kattegat sea. After his early death in 1933, a memorial was put up for Rasmussen in 1936, made from blocks eventually transferred here from Greenland.
