Leeds Country Way
We were very lucky to have good weather for our walk with the Pudseys today. Mainly dull but warm and the sun came out after lunch.
We parked at Apperley Bridge and walked along the canal, up through Calverley woods,
by Woodhall Golf Club and stopped for lunch at the top of Woodhall Hills by the Panoramic View Point. ( see extra collage) Unfortunately it was a bit hazy and so we couldn’t see the far reaching view very well. On a clear day you could see as far as Drax Power Station near Selby.
We then joined Leeds Country Way which took us through some interesting little hamlets, including Beckside near Greengates where there was a lovely 17C house by the ford across Fagley Beck. ( extra collage)
The path then took us through more woods and along Carr Beck which you can see in the main Blip photo. So pretty with the sun shining through the trees.
Back at the bridge over the River Aire we saw some of the work going on as part of the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme.
It was then a change of shoes and over the road to the Stansfield Arms where we sat outside and I enjoyed a shandy, MrC a pint of Timothy Tailors ( I was driving) most of the others had cups of tea.
This was a walk we haven’t done before and took us through places new to us. Lovely views, beautiful countryside and woods. Little becks and hamlets, and all almost on our doorstep.
The other photo in the collage was a van which came down the track we were walking up. All we could think of was another SatNav mistake!
Forgot to mention the walk was 6 miles.
