Severed Heads

This 18th century gravestone has a fine collection of mortality symbols including an hour glass, a coffin, skull, long bones, bible  and the gravedigger tools. It is unfortunate that the deep crack in the stone has severed the heads of the trumpet playing angels of the resurrection. The angels acted as a  reminder  that on the day of judgement 'The trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised'.
