New fire..

There are now two new fires on the westside of the lake.  This picture is of the Cathedral Lake fire about 100 K from us.


A new fire grew overnight in West Kelowna and there are now 5,500 on evacuation order and 4500 on alert.  With the impending winds..this one could be scary..


Our son who lives in a log home on the Westside is on alert..and we talked about him coming on over for the night ..just to get ahead of the game...we shall see...


Extra..a picture from the 2003 Okanagan Lake Fire..20th year anniversary yesterday.  The second largest evacuation in the history of Canada...30,000 were evacuated...239 homes were incinerated ..


We have learned a lot since 2003...need to be cautious..when fires get to a certain size..and the wind comes up...fires cannot be stopped...you have to get out of the way..


Extra 2:...here is the most recent fire coming over the hill...hope the wind changes and sends it back towards where it has been burning...that would be very fortunate..
