Merlin's castle

With the forecast warning of thuderstorms this afternoon we decided to visit the Chateau de Pierrefonds, where Merlin was filmed, this morning. This castle with so many towers and spires was amazing from the outside and breathtakingly opulent on the inside. The exhibitions inside the chateau were fantastic and the holograms of ghosts appearing from a model of the castle were a wow with the children (and us). Despite the temperature reaching 30 deg. the storms didn't happen and we lunched in a restaurant by the lake in the village before going on to the armistice site in forest of Compeigne. The "snack" we had at luchtime meant we didn't need to cook tonight! We have decided to stay at least another night here. At 8.40 sitting outside blipping and listening to the birds! This is what holidays are for.
