Birthday Twins

How do you deal with taking photographs indoors in poor light and no suitable background setting?  This was taken at a birthday family get together in a busy restaurant.  I set the camera to 1600 ISO and just used available light from led overhead lights and later adjusted the light temperature.  So not ideal conditions and by no means a perfect image but I hope I captured a little of the atmosphere.
