Travelling
So today when the tide was right, this sailing ship manoeuvred through the lock of Plymouth’s Sutton harbour and pointed herself south-west towards the Canary Islands. It was the start of a two-year voyage around the world taking in 32 ports and involving thousands of people in a groundbreaking geographical project, Darwin 200 which is intended, among other things, to inspire the environmental leaders and scientists of the future.
But that’s not why we want to Plymouth today, Peter and I, it was the ‘Bellamy Birthday Bash’, held last year in a selection of Falmouth pubs, this year in the Dolphin on Plymouths Barbican.
Numbers were down to four but what a great day, always good to catch up with friends.
Not a late one, busy day tomorrow.
