Apollo 12
20 November, 1969
BY PETE CONRAD
HASSELBLAD 70MM LENS 60MM F/5.6. B&W NASA ID: AS 12-49- 7278
One of the sharpest portraits of any Apollo astronaut on the Moon. Taken at Sharp crater; Pete Conrad, referring to the vacuum-sealed Lunar Environmental Sample Container that Alan Bean is holding: "Now what do we want to do? Fill that with dirt and rocks?" After giggling like schoolboys trying to fill the container, Conrad, seen reflected in Bean's visor, takes the photograph. Conrad is also reflected in the Carl Zeiss lens.
