View Last night..

We were placed on Evacuation Alert.  When we went to bed last night, this was our view of the fires from our deck...the closest fire was about 2 Kilometres away and moving up the mountain. I did not sleep well expecting someone coming to our door telling us to leave with an 'Evacuation Order'. That did not happen.

When I woke up at 5.30am...the helicopters were active..smoke was very thick..425 on Purple Air scale...and the best news...'NO WIND' ....The fires stalled instead of spreading quickly.

At a news conference update this morning...they said that many structures have been saved by the firefighters...and some have been lost.  We will not know a count as all personnel are still actively fighting fires that continue to burn. It will probably be several days before our son will find out what condition his log house is in.

As of 2.00pm today..we continue to try and stay positive...my wife is enjoying all the evacuated family and friends over as she shops and prepares meals as only a gourmet chef can...

Thanks to all of you for your supportive comments...and care for our safety..

Extra: Grandson Jake...

Extra 2: Charlie...such a well tempered dog...he does periodically play with Doug.. the Dog:-)
