DAY TWENTY TWO: Late capitalism
Almost forgot to blip!
I landed back in Melbourne today and went straight from the airport to the beach for the sunset and world cup final.
This newlywed couple were on the beach for a photoshoot. They were being given instructions to walk slowly in different directions and we're being followed by a drone camera. The local crows were trying to intimidate and bomb the drone but luckily avoided actually making contact with the propellers. It was all quite a spectacle.
A slightly more dystopian image of modern life was the 'task pod' at the airport - a windowless box, slightly bigger than a phone box, which you could lock yourself inside to work in (if you paid £2 for 15 minutes). Sitting on my laptop in the seats opposite the task box I felt a bit self conscious about selling my labour on a Sunday.
I didn't win the pub raffle and we didn't win the football but Charli the cat seemed genuinely pleased to see me when I got back to the Airbnb and that felt like a win.
