59-99 Belmont St Alexandria

Sometimes I feel I’ve lived here longer. In six years this building has been a steel tubing factory, vacant, occupied by squatters, a planned development and now a planned development by another company. I looked it up - 16 apartments and seven 3-storey terraces over four levels. Or 19 and four, depending on the developer. The frontage is “an iconic heritage façade”. On the developer’s website the DS McCulla, currently a ghost sign, is fresh as the day it first appeared.

The façadism looks like it will work, but the Banksy-esque lockpick rat, lower left, might not survive. Ditto the older ghost sign faintly visible above.

Thanks for hosting the lucky 500th loulou164.
