Knitting Kit

Our older daughter, Krista, is a very good knitter. Both of her grandmothers were great knitters. It seems to have skipped a generation and she is the only grandchild to have taken it up.

She meets every week with a group of knitters and she is on the executive of a knitting guild. They plan activities, do knitting challenges for charity, attend events, go on shopping trips to wool shops, and go to craft fairs and knitting conventions.

Knitters are the only people I am aware of who can do three things at once. I was once invited to join her group of about 15 on an outing to a baseball game. Each introduced herself, then pulled out her project, started a conversation, and watched the baseball game. Four things if you count laughing a lot.

This project is unique in my limited experience. She is knitting two sleeves at a time for a small infant sweater, like the one in the picture, for her German student exchange partner. She will the knit a matching sweater, in different colour, for the infant’s older sister.
