He's a Four-spotted chaser, in fact there were half a dozen of these in this particular pond back at Meeth Quarry today - now my *local patch*. On such a perfect sunny day we saw:

3 Green hairstreak butterflies
3 Common Blue Butterflies
14 Broad bodied chasers - female & male
6 dingy skippers
3 small copper butterflies
6 Four spotted chasers
1 emperor dragonfly
100+ blue & red damselflies
1 Beautiful damsel
1 Peacock butterfly
1 speckled wood
20+ wood white butterflies
6 Orange tip butterflies
3 Brimstone butterflies...

Not to mention all the wildflowers, bumble bees, beetles, froghoppers, spiders... this place is paradise & it's just up the road :)
