Beautiful Darkness

Late at night I realise I haven't taken any photos and I need an emegency blip! It's dark outside, and cloudy, so nothing out there is photographically interesting.
Then it strikes me that the fact that it is dark is new for this summer.
We talk and write about the white nights we have here for about three months of the year, when it never gets really dark, but we rarely talk about the return of darkness and the beauty of seeing a really dark sky, a sky filled with stars. Not everyone up here is so happy but both Jan and I love the white nights, and then love the returning darkness too!
