Festival

We got the train over to Edinburgh in time to meet #3 daughter in the National Museum cafe where she was having a late breakfast of a large scone. We had tickets for Beyond the Little Black Dress. I don’t know what I expected but I was underwhelmed - why are all the write-ups at toddler height? Also it was exceedingly dark but no doubt black dresses couldn’t stand the light. It was fun though.

Then we headed up to the book festival to be denied entry to Chris Bryant - Jenny had mistakenly bought tickets for a 5.30 talk, by which time daughter would have got her train back. The nice person in charge had us hang on till the last minute and found 3 seats at the back. He had met his match in Ruth Wishart. She’s so sharp and witty. He was promoting his book “Code of Conduct” which focussed on how to clean up Westminster from the current lying (Sunak is at it too) and corruption.

We repaired to Hendersons for a nice Veggie lunch. (Not as good as Banns and expensive). Daughter left for her train and Jenny and I walked down to the Dovecote where we just about had enough time to see the Scottish Women Artists exhibition and pop quickly in to Dazzle. Yes I was tempted by some vivid Yellow/green plastic earrings.

Now we are in the Festival theatre cafe waiting for American Dance. We’ll miss the 10pm train so won’t get back to Fife till midnight. Then the same trains tomorrow. Almost 5 miles today.
