Cape Kidnappers

The Cape is home to a large gannet colony which use to be accessible by travelling along the beach. The beach is now closed because of landslides but there is access over farmland.
The cape was named by Captain Cook after an attempt by local Maori to kidnap one of his crew.
We are staying at the campground visible on the extreme right of this image.
