The Great Bed of Ware

We visited the V & A today and besides getting historied out we looked for and found "The Great Bed of Ware.
Having lived in Ware for some 30 years we knew all the stories of the bed, which even gets a mention in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night along with others, but had never seen is till today.
It is said that it moved from Inn to Inn through Ware and was also recorded at Rye house Hotel which is a short distance from Ware and still stands today. This link is worth a look as is the video attached to it.

The Extra shows more pictures of the bed and some of the graffiti on from hundreds of years ago.

In 2004 my wife was part of a team that made a quilt that would fit The Great Bed of Ware and now hangs in Wodson Park Sports Centre stairwell in Ware.

We and warm today but we managed to avoid all the rain.
