Caen Hill (Thursday 24th August 2023)

Loki was a no show at C's this afternoon, probably dozing under a tree in a neighbour's garden. Luckily I had called in at Caen Hill earlier where there had been a lot of activity. I even saw a pair of swans flying up the Caen Hill flight on their way towards Devizes Wharf.

Anna Meredith - Nautilus (2016)
This has become something of a classic, featured in quite a few feature film soundtracks, but when it was first released on the debut album Varmints for the Moshi Moshi label it was featured on the cover mount CD Ones From The Heart in the Uncut magazine for September 2016. I was re-reading that backnumber before discarding it, which meant also replaying the CD. It still sounds fresh and invigorating.
"Anna Meredith is a composer, producer and performer of both acoustic and electronic music. Her sound is frequently described as ‘uncategorisable’ and ‘genre-defying’ and straddles the worlds of contemporary classical, art pop, soundtracks, techno, installations and experimental rock.
Her music has been performed everywhere from the Hollywood Bowl to BBC Last Night of the Proms to flashmob body-percussion performances at the M6 Services. It has been used in PRADA, Chloe & Fendi fashion campaigns, adverts, films, TV shows, installations and pop festivals, clubs and classical concert halls worldwide and is regularly broadcast on BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, 4 & 6.

She was voted Number One in The List's Hot100 (of Cultural Contributors to 2016), made the 2018 BBC Women’s Hour Power List and was awarded an MBE for services to music in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
In 2022 she received an Honorary Doctorate of Music from Napier University and was awarded a Fellowship to the Royal College of Music." - her website
