Lord of the Wing

Was dropping Daughter No. 2 off at Celtic Park tonight for a friend's birthday party and decided to blip this relatively new statue of Jimmy Johnstone outside the main entrance.

Jinky, as he was known, was one of the famous Lisbon Lions (front row, far left) and was a truly sublime player. Probably the best winger of his generation, he terrified the wits out of defenders literally the world over. Check him out on YouTube and you'll see what I mean.

Once his playing days were over, he couldn't cope with his demons and lost his way big time. He subsequently got his life back on track and was given the ultimate accolade of being voted the 'greatest ever Celtic player' by the fans. Sadly, he developed motor neurone disease and died in 2006, aged 62.
