I hear you knocking...
After many years of planning and applying for grants and permissions, the work to repair the derelict chest tombs at the thirteenth century church above the village is under way.
Apparently, despite the impression, folk were still buried six feet below ground level. The tombs themselves were largely empty. Over time these had begun to fall apart, with the ingress of ivy and other vegetation. Now the stone mason is securing these listed monuments for future generations.
Noticed today that someone living adjacent a narrow public alley has erected cctv cameras looking both ways at people using it. Surveillance is ubiquitous nowadays including facial recognition surveillance, but that's pretty rude. Especially as the parish council owns the alley...
I made sure to smile and wave as I walked past. Then turned around and did it again. :-p
