Homburg. Not a hat in sight... well, perhaps one
Today's visists centred on Saarland, starting off with an impromptu visit to 1FC Saarbrücken's new stadium, into which we broke before being chased off by a nice man who explained, incredibly politely, that the likes of us were not allowed in. Furry nuff.
Thence to a coal mine museum, which wasn't as much fun as it sounds, and then on to Homburg, which was brilliant. We climbed up (again, my hips) to the ruins of the old castle, avoiding snakes and various biting insects and then getting some rather splendid views. There was also a superb cave complex, which we visited wearing some of the fetching headgear provided.
Dinner meant a trip over the border into Spicheren for teh Restaurant Woll. Overpriced and rather too pleased with itself for my liking. Their attempts at artichokes were particularly crap. Oh well. Nice setting, good company.
