Dunstanburgh Castle

The Minx picked us up from Piccadilly, last night, and then, having dropped Hannah at home, we headed back up to Kirkby Lonsdale, thus facilitating a reasonably early start across to Corbridge to visit our friends, Janice and Chris, this morning.

It was a cracking cross-country drive, so I felt we'd already had a treat before we even met up with our friends, and Chris drove us all over to Embleton Bay.

We parked at the golf course, and then walked along the beautiful beach (today's Blip) to Dunstanburgh Castle (today's Extra), where we stopped for a picnic. I'd have liked to go into the castle ruin, but English Heritage were asking £9.50 per person, and you've got to draw the line somewhere.

Our friends Cathy and Pete arrived shortly after we arrived back at Chris and Janice's house, and thus began a very happy evening of conversation, drinks, and excellent food. (Janice is an amazing cook.) It was a perfect end to a fantastic day, and I sat there, listening to all of the conversation around me, feeling very fortunate.
