Flown the nest.

A visit to the pond on my way to Cleckheaton to take a bag if books to the charity shop.

Only two Canada geese left.
Chatting to a couple who live nearby they said all 7 geese had flown off earlier in the week, and then these two had returned.
Presumably mum and dad were taking them somewhere before returning themselves to the pond.
They also said they had been told that these two winter in the Solway before returning to the pond to breed.
Now I’ve no idea how this can be proved, but take their word for it.

I was going to do some gardening this afternoon, but the heavens opened and we had a thunderstorm.
So have been watching Frankie Dettori win the Ebor at York. What a thrilling race. A good win for his last Ebor Festival race meeting.

Sun now shining and going out to pick some runner beans for tea.
At least they will have benefitted from the rain.
