Autumn is coming

Here in mid-Sweden late summer is definitely here, and moving towards autumn. Out in the forest it's wet! If it doesn't rain then dew dampens everything down, and the sun is rarely strong enough to dry out the undergrowth. The forest fire season is definitely past!
It's also harvest time and today I took up the first potato harvest of the year, a few of the potatoes I planted in May. We can store them in our earth cellar under the house, where it is damp and cool but doesn't freeze. Last year our own potatoes carried us through to spring.
Of course autumn is also the time of red or yellow leaves and on this rowan tree just one branch seems to have decided it's autumn!
