Dear Green Place 7 - Hogganfield Park
A wander further east today. The loch here is good for bird-watching as it's an important site for migrant and wintering birds. I saw some Great crested grebe chicks (with striped heads!) for the first time, too far away for a good picture though. There are lovely areas of meadow and ponds around the loch with wildflowers and frogs (only tadpoles sighted today). I resisted blipping some cygnets that were feeding close to us and instead I've chosen a common blue (I think) damselfly, crouched at the water's edge -- the first one I've seen this year.
The park dates to the 1920s.
