Bassenthwaite Triathlon
The sailing club always hosts the Bassenthwaite Triathlon this weekend of the year. It starts with a 1500m swim, then a 25mile cycle and finishes with a 6 mile run. I was thankful to be a spectator rather than a competitor and interested to see the water being used for a sport other than sailing.. However, the strong wind and choppy conditions had everyone on a knife edge as to whether it should be cancelled or not. With some modifications though, it all went ahead.
Led by Lyndsay and Christine I helped out with the team in the Galley all day providing breakfasts until 11.00 and then paninis and chilli as well as much needed teas and coffees., but I did manage to slip out and see the start .
As a bonus Lucy, a good and very fit friend, was first lady with a time of 2hrs, 16mins and 38 seconds!
