The road from Rosedale
Our last day in Whitby, and the last day of this year's Folk Week. After a final breakfast at Cranberry Swamp, I spent the morning at the Craft Fair, and when it closed at 2.00pm helped MrM take down his stall and pack everything in to the van. After bidding farewell to the other traders, many of whom have become friends over the years, we drove up to the campsite, took down the tent, and packed the camping stuff into the van. Unfortunately, not before it had rained!
Then, sadly, time to go home. MrM drove us via the scenic route, which may have been the long way round but avoided the Bank Holiday traffic, and afforded some fabulous views. The heather on the North York Moors was splendid. We stopped to admire the scenery before heading down in to Rosedale, and then up the steep road you can see in the Blip on Chimney Bank, and down to Hutton-le-Hole. (The road apparently shares the title of 'the steepest road in Britain' with Harknott Pass in Cumbria.)
Home to a more-or-less empty fridge, so we ventured out to Honley in the evening for a meal at the Cantonese Chef.
