Down home food

There is just st something satisfying about growing, harvesting, and preparing your own food. We had a country, southern meal tonight:
Peas, potatoes, and okra from the garden, deer sausage made from venison harvested on the place, homemade sauerkraut from cabbage grown in the garden, homemade pickles and beets from a friend, and homemade Southern cast iron cornbread. Johnny’s brother joined us.
This once would have been called “ poor folk food” because it’s homegrown. Now it’s a treat bc not many grow their own food anymore. We enjoyed it.
Be blessed!
