Extra pzazz at this mornings Cathedral service, as expected being part of the music festival; timpani and two trumpets accompanied a couple of hymns, with a little light touch organ.

As often occurs a young choirboy is allowed to sing a small solo line or two, amongst the professional choir and festival singers. Quite a contrast in quality , but just fabulous to give them that experience etc.

Enjoyed a brief chat with a cool looking tall Scottish guy with a mini man bun, who it turned out had been a music producer of the big Celtic Connections music festival in Glasgow at one time.

Also a chat with todays preacher, currently Dean of Chapel and Chaplain at Selwyn College Cambridge,  who was a sixth form pupil at  the Minster and whose mum is Theological Canon at the Minster.
