Rhododendron

Had to check the spelling of this one today. I know it was introduced by the Victorians and extensively planted in formal gardens from where it spread and is now classed as an invasive species.
It grows freely around Bournemouth and Poole and the council work hard to keep it under control. Nevertheless it is a very attractive shrub when it is in flower.
