Black Beauty

I have been trying out Black Beauty tomates this year after seeing it on Gardeners World. They have grown quite successfully and I have some good big ones. When I researched how you know if they are ripe, you have to wait until the bottom turns red, which can take up to 90 days!
I picked the first one today and it’s no beauty, something has been chewing at it. However when trimmed it is very tasty and I’m looking forward to eating some more. Tomato growing at this altitude in northern England is rather marginal so you might as well try something interesting!
