Hilbre Island

By way of a change from my At The Movies tiny people series I have blipped the view from Hilbre Island today.

Hilbre Island is an archipelago of 3 tiny islands in the Dee Estuary that can only be reached when the tide is out.

Kwchas's friend is a volunteer at the nature reserve on the main Hilbre Island so we walked out there with him early this morning just as the tide was about to turn, stayed on the island watching the birds and seals until the tide went back out again so we could walk back to the mainland.

We have been onto the island a few times before but it was great to go with an expert who had access to the observatory and the hide which are not normally open to the public (especially as it rained a few times and there is little cover otherwise).
